Privacy Policy

This explains what IVIE collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in the same plain English we use everywhere else.

Who we are

IVIE ("IVIE", "we", "us") provides a business workspace and guidance platform for entrepreneurs, freelancers and small businesses. For the purposes of Nigeria's data protection law, we are the data controller for the information described here.

You can reach us at hello@ivieapp.com for anything in this policy, including requests to access or delete your data.

What we collect

Information you give us. Your name, email address and password when you create an account. Your business details - name, industry, location, contact details - when you set up your workspace.

Information you put into IVIE. The records you create as you work: sales, expenses, customers, products and stock, projects, clients, invoices and the messages you send to Ivie. This is your business data. It belongs to you.

Information we generate. Account activity such as sign-in times, your plan and payment history, and technical logs that help us keep the service running and secure.

We do not store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Paystack; your card never reaches our servers.

Signing in with Google

Signing in with Google is optional - you can create an account with an email address and password instead. If you do use it, Google tells us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account ID, and only after you have seen and approved that on Google's own consent screen.

We use it for one thing: creating your account and letting you back into it. It stands in for a password. It is stored with the rest of your account details in our authentication database, kept for as long as your account exists, and deleted when you delete your account.

We do not share information received from Google with anyone beyond the providers listed below, we never sell it, and we never use it to train AI models. IVIE's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect IVIE from your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Doing that stops future sign-ins; to remove what we already hold, delete your IVIE account.

Why we use it

  • -To run your account and give you the features you signed up for.
  • -To produce your reports, books and invoices from the records you enter.
  • -To let Ivie answer questions about your business - guidance is only useful if it's grounded in your actual numbers.
  • -To take payment for a plan and tell you when it's ending.
  • -To send service messages you can't opt out of, such as verification codes, receipts and security notices.
  • -To send product updates, tips and marketing - only if you agreed to it, and you can stop at any time.
  • -To keep the service secure, investigate abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

Our legal bases are your consent (for marketing and optional features), the performance of our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (security and improving the product), and compliance with legal obligations.

How Ivie uses your information

When you ask Ivie a question, the relevant parts of your business data - the figures needed to answer - are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply, along with your question. This is what makes the answer about your business rather than business in general.

Your business data is not used to train AI models, and it is not made available to other users. If Ivie needs current public information to answer, it may run a web search using terms derived from your question.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the providers needed to run IVIE:

  • -Supabase - accounts, authentication and database hosting.
  • -Groq - generating Ivie's replies from the context described above.
  • -Paystack - taking payments. They receive your email and the amount; we never see your card.
  • -Resend - sending our emails to you.
  • -Our hosting providers - running the application and its infrastructure.

Some of these providers operate outside Nigeria, so your information may be processed abroad. We only use providers that offer protections consistent with Nigerian data protection standards.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it's necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

Information you choose to publish

If you list your business or consultant profile on the IVIE Marketplace, the details in that listing - your business name, category, location, services and contact details - become publicly visible. That is the point of a listing, but it is your choice: you can ask us to remove it at any time.

Nothing else - your sales, books, customers or conversations with Ivie - is ever published.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and business records, except where we're required to keep certain records - payment and tax records, for example - for a legally mandated period.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • -See the information we hold about you.
  • -Correct anything that's wrong.
  • -Export your data in a portable format.
  • -Delete your account and the data in it.
  • -Withdraw consent for marketing emails, without affecting your account.
  • -Object to processing, or ask us to restrict it.

Most of these you can do yourself in Settings. For anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days. If you believe we've handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal data we will tell you and the relevant authority as required by law.

Children

IVIE is for people running or starting a business and isn't intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if we learn we have, we'll delete it.

The law this follows

This policy is written to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation. It is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

Using IVIE is also subject to our Terms of Service.
